I have decided to reorganize how dates are shown into the new maps I’m working on, adding some additional information. From left to right:
TDT – Terrestrial Dynamic Time.
UTC – Universal Time Coordinated.
LST – Local Standard Time, defined by current Timezones. Shown as DST when Daylight Saving Time is manually applied. It doesn’t make sense when one is analyzing ancient events. So I decided to add two further local dates.
LMST – Local Mean Solar Time – defined by UTC + LONGITUDE of the observer.
LTST – Local True Solar Time – defined by UTC + LONGITUDE + EQUATION_OF_TIME. The sun crosses the local meridian at 12:00:00 LTST.
Note: the Local Meridian is a standard line running from South (northern hemisphere) or North (southern hemisphere) to the Zenith. Celestial bodies reach their maximum altitude crossing the LM.
