** VERSION 0.9.9.264R CHANGELOG **

  1. Found some bug around the code. In the Jupiter’s satellites windows magnitudes of Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto are erroneously referred to Io’s magnitude, and this was corrected.
  2. Uruk_One loads the first 10K entries from the astorb.dat file, but a relevant part of them has visual magnitudes up to 25-26. So I decided to give the chance to show them all even though they are not correctly comparable with an adequate star field (billions of stars should be needed in this case).
  3. I’m working on a separate application, whose temporary name is “Cerbero” showing ALL the asteroid listed into MPCORB.DAT or astorb.dat, as seen from the North Pole of Ecliptic. It’s possible to find the closest asteroids to the Earth, keeping in account that if a body gets into the Hill Sphere (0.01 AU from Earth) its orbit can’t be defined by heliocentric parameters given by MPCORB.DAT or astorb.dat but turns the body into an Earth’s satellite with different orbital values. That’s exactly what’s happening in these days with the asteroid 2020 SO, that will have a different trajectory until it will get out of the Earth’s influence, on March-April 2021.

4) The Job viewer can now save the grid (filtered or not) into a CSV file, everywhere on the PC, so that it is directly loadable from programs like Numbers, Excel or Calc (LibreOffice).

5) Added rotation axis of Mars and Saturn.

6) I have improved the Canon of Lunar Eclipses, now covering years from 10000 BCE to 10000 CE.

7) Now [astorb.dat] can be downloaded from the Application via FTP.

8) Added a quick view of Solar System bodies as seen from the Ecliptic North Pole. Only the first 10000 asteroids listed into the [astorb.dat] are shown (and comets as a future implementation). In case of historical research don’t forget to turn asteroids off because published elements are valid for a short range of time (months, not years).

Solar System View

And this ends the development related to 2020. Many features have been added and others are still waiting to be considered most likely in the next year. I want to thank Jean Claude Bercu for testing the software and for pointing me out some bugs to fix.

Stay safe.

  1. Hi
Just checked Eta Herculis with new GAIA EDR3 catalog using Vizier database (J2000)
Eta Herculis, η Her, 44 Her
    Uruk_One (Input J2000 coordinates) AD = 16 42 53.759 DE = +38 55 20.12
    Hipparcos rev. 2007 : ID81833 AD = 16 42 53.7650947 DE = +38 55 20.112868
    GAIA DR2:ID1352588216301488000 AD = 16 42 53.7650947 DE = +38 55 20.112868
    GAIA EDR3:ID1352588216303348608 AD = 16 42 53.7649448982 DE = +38 55 20.117717645

Same results…. No need, in my opinion, to use the complete EDR3 catalog with Uruk_One… at the moment !

    Best regards.
