Hi
When I want to download comets :
On my screen I see the window Comets Data Management
I see : COMETS ENABLED, CometEls.txt FOUND
If I click Computing positions, I see a window with an error message :
“0.899724” is an invalid float.
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Abort to kill the program.
If I click Download Comets Data, same error message.
If I click Turns Comets ON/OFF, again same message.
Now if I click on AUTO DISABLE COMETS (Preferences window), I receive an error message :
“4.0” is an invalid float.
Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Abort to kill the program.
From time to time, when I try to open again Uruk_One, I only get an error message :
“0.899724” is an invalid float
Any idea ?
My computer Windows 10, Intel i3, 4 Go, 1 To, Intel GC updated.
Regards
It’s the same problem we encountered time ago with asteroids and the French version of Windows, due to some problem with the “.” instead of “,” for real numbers. Guess it should be easily solved with the same code used for asteroids. Thanks for the info.
I uninstalled the previous version (comets and asteroids files included) and installed again Version 0.9.9.404R.
Same error messages, unfortunately.
Regards
Thank you very much, it is true that in France we use 12,345 instead of 12.345.
An opportunity to read Wikipedia about decimal separator : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decimal_separator
Oh, in Italy we use the same decimal separator, but for some unknown reason it works fine. Anyway I’ve just placed a patch in the Download Window that should be suitable for you. Can you please test it? If it’s ok tomorrow I’ll put online the 0.9.9.405R version for all the Operating Systems.
thanks.
I just installed the patch after uninstalling previous version for a clean install.
But I still get this error message “4.O” is an invalid float each time I click on :
Turns Comets ON/OFF
Download Comets Data
I can read CometsEls.txt found but the columns are all empty.
However, there is no more error message : “0.899724” is an invalid float.
Now if I open again the window Comets Data Management, I can see the comets data in the columns.
The search engine works.
But anytime I click on Turns Comets ON/OFF again the error message : “4.0”… and all columns are empty again.
CometsEls file is located in Uruk1_USR folder.
Is the problem still related to decimal separator ?
Ok, I had to switch Windows into French and discovered another code to be patched. I’m compiling the 0.9.9.406 patch, guess it will be online in few minutes. This time, having tested directly the code on the French version, should work fine(fingers crossed tho). 🙂
Hi
Molte grazie per queste soluzioni rapide, ottimo lavoro.
Now everything working fine, no more error messages.
Time to check the new and useful improvements.
Regards
Oh très bien!!
Thanks for helping. 🙂
Hi
After installing Uruk_One, the program icon and shortcut are displayed without an image. Otherwise it is fine.
Regards
Hi
I agree with Kamil, the usual Uruk_One icon is not displayed.
Otherwise, no other problem.
Regards.
Heh, I moved the icons folder into another path to assemble the iconset for MacOS version and Uruk1 for Windows was orphaned of its icon. Ok, taking note.
Ho testato qualche cometa e mi sembra che funzioni tutto perfettamente. Complimenti!
Grazie.
Hi
Adding orbital elements of ancient comets is a very good idea.
For instance such elements for C/1858 L1 (Donati) can be found on https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/sbdb.cgi?sstr=C/1858+L1
A good test : Comet Donati was painted over Oxford near Arcturus on 5 October 1858 near Arcturus : https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Anonymous-Victorian-transparency-of-Donatis-comet-over-Balliol-and-Trinity-College_fig3_232016492
