(1) UrukFSP has now 4 color theme selectable by Preference Menu => General.
(2) Stereo-graphic Earth Map may have some new color combinations.
(3) Comets and Asteroids Grids can be simplified by excluding columns containing orbital data.
(4) MAIN WINDOW – “NOW” button has been moved close to “Input Date” and “Input Location” Buttons.
(5) Longitude and Latitude boxes don’t update position on the map until the “GO” button is pressed.
(6) DeltaT experimental curve UK24B2 upgraded to UK24C2.
(7) Tools Menu splitted into Tools [1] and Tools [2]. We have 23 calculation tools so far. Rising and Setting of Planets and brightest stars have been moved from Ephemeris Menu to Tools [2] menu.
(8) Tools 03 and 09 mixed into new 03 Tool. Computing equinoxes or solstices and “go to” functions are now accessible from one single window.
If a Horizon Profile is loaded, azimuth of sunrise/sunset are computed for dipped horizon and visible horizon (obscured by mountains). “Go to” functions take into account of mountains too.
(9) Flattening and reddening of solar /lunar disk nearby the horizon now managed.
(10) HORIZON PROFILE WINDOW : the scale of the horizon profile line can now be changed by means a slider.
(11) I have to confess that I’ve never liked radio-buttons. Usually when a choice between multiple elements is needed the so-called radio-buttons are there. Actually I do prefer pressable buttons, with the selected one lit green. Button panels belong to real life. So, radio-buttons will disappears from UrukFSP, replaced by button panels.
(12) Some enhancement to the “Heliacal Events” Tool [16].
Kv value is now editable inside this tool and an approximate value of Sun Altitude below the Horizon needed for star’s visibility is present. Use it with caution because there are many variables at play and making a specific prediction is not easy at all.
(13) Added more flexibility to the Input Date window containing the DeltaT manual management. Fiddling with DeltaT values changes the instant of the maximum eclipse too, so having the time flow panel into the same windows is surely comfortable.
(14) Tools [22] and [23] – Rising and Setting of Planets and Stars. The switch for activating panels doesn’t exist anymore. Panels are always active, if clicked they take the user to the event.
(15) Graphic maps show in the title the dimension in pixel of the image. It is useful if you want to create different maps, in different moments, to be inserted into a paper, having the same dimension.
(16) Menu PREFERENCES. Deleted DeltaT model change section. DeltaT models can now be selected from the main window. Same to the Reference Time of Sunset/Sunrise od Stars and Planets. It can be selected from Tool [22] and [23] directly.
(17) The button [ Sync Tracking] in the Main Window has been renamed [ Sync EQT/HOR]. His functionality is always the same. It temporarily propagate the same tracking to EQT or HOR views. It’s not a permanent link though, windows can then be set to different tracking at any time.
(18) EARTH VIEW – Mercator and Orthographic projection of earth’s soil are now faster because boundaries of nations are not drawn. Just coastlines are shown.
(19) Added an information to the Solar, Annular or Hybrid Eclipse. Into the bottom yellow panel there is now a fourth line describing the distance in days of Greatest Eclipse from the closest Equinoxes or Solstices. This information can be picked up from the Ephemeris Menu too, but if shown here it looks to me more comfy.
NOTE : if you already have an earlier version of UrukFSP the new location file will not overwrite your local file contained into UrukFSP_USR/Locations. Anyway you can call Menu File ==> [7] and verify if the new release contains others locations to be optionally added to your local file.
NOTE : Unlike most programs, in UrukFSP moving in the EQT, HOR and STEREOGRAPHIC EARTH VIEW windows doesn’t require holding down the left mouse button and dragging it to the destination. Simply click the left mouse button on the new position that needs to be placed at the center of the window. Alternatively, it is possible to rotate the current window by moving the mouse over the boxes indicating AR, DEC, ALT, AZM, LON, LAT if enabled, and acting on the mouse wheel. This can be done in steps of 10° and 1°.
Hi
Just downloaded version 1.4.2.
Everything working fine.
Great improvements.
Congratulazioni per questo eccellente lavoro.
I’m looking forward to testing a 21.4.2 version on a quantum laptop in a few years…
